Our client, an innovative Managing General Underwriter (MGU) specializing in Alternative Risk, is seeking a Head of Structured Reinsurance. Role will lead the reinsurance underwriting business of the company. The organization operates as part of a Top National Specialty Broker with more than 3,000 employees across 100+ offices worldwide, offering exceptional resources and growth potential.

Position Outline:

  • Responsible for managing the underwriting of reinsurance for captive reinsurers in connection with structured risk solutions for corporate and institutional clients and for the development and oversight of structured reinsurance opportunities supporting professional insurers and reinsurers.
  • This leadership position is responsible for ensuring profitable and sustainable growth for carrier markets.
  • Collaborate with the company’s structured insurance business, this senior-level staff position works collaboratively with (re)insurer-clients and brokers to provide bespoke, structured reinsurance solutions to client-insurers while building a profitable portfolio of assumed risk for represented reinsurers.

Qualifications

  • Minimum10 years of property & casualty underwriting, with significant exposure to complex/structured solutions and a working knowledge of structured insurance and reinsurance.
  • Experience in or working knowledge of quantitative and financial modeling is preferred.
  • This position requires a proven market leader with deep technical expertise in property & casualty underwriting and structured insurance and reinsurance solutions.
  • The successful candidate will combine strategic vision with hands-on underwriting
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Risk Management, Actuarial Sciences or Business Administration is strongly recommended. Any other related discipline or commensurate work experience considered.
  • State P&C and/or surplus lines licenses required
  • CPCU, CIC, or equivalent advanced certifications preferred
