Chief Technology Officer

Chief Technology Officer

Our client, an acquisition-focused insurance agency providing property and casualty and employee benefits services to a range of commercial and individual clients is seeking a Chief Technology Officer (CTO). This role can be remote or based at one of the company’s locations (candidate preference), but travel will likely be required (15-25%) as part of the role.

Reporting to the CEO and COO, the CTO is responsible for planning, leading, and managing all information systems, data, technology, and services for the company’s business entities. The CTO directs the execution of technology and data strategy, as well as managing the day-to-day operation of governance, security, compliance, operations, infrastructure, applications, data and user support functions within the organization. Integrating new agencies added to the platform via M&A from a data and technology standpoint will also be a key responsibility of the position.

The CTO will ensure that all IT infrastructures and initiatives are aligned with the company’s strategic plans and are technically sound and cost effective. This position will develop a governance framework to a degree that will ensure all company functions follow modern IT standards.

The CTO will have enterprise-wide responsibility for enabling and fostering value creation from the use of the organization’s data assets, as well as the external data ecosystem. This role is expected to drive value creation through data identification, exploitation, creating data-enabled strategies as well as enabling all forms of business outcomes through analytics, data and analytics governance, and business process.

Essential job responsibilities include:

  • Establish clear alignment and priorities to effectively provide technology strategy guidance on all company strategies and initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and management of the technology organization. Work closely with senior executive team to develop technology and data strategies that enable the achievement of business objectives.
  • Provide leadership and strategic planning as it relates to the integration of new agency additions via M&A and other growth initiatives.
  • Oversee and coordinate the deployment of technology resources to support the company’s mergers and acquisition activity and other growth initiatives.
  • Identify and standardize the use and governance of data and analytics across the organization
  • Develop a financial budget for the technology organization based on short-term and long-term information technology goals and be accountable for its implementation.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in information technology management.
  • Insurance industry background, with experience at an active M&A platform strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of agency management systems and insurance specific data.
  • Post graduate degree in Computer Science, Business, or related discipline preferred.
  • Strong understanding of data structures, analytics and using data to make business decisions.
  • Proven record of accomplishment facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization.
