Regulatory Compliance Counsel – Top 50 National Insurance Broker (REMOTE)

Professional Responsibilities

  • Provide legal guidance on multi-state insurance licensing laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate legal responses to Department of Insurance inquiries, investigations, and regulatory examinations.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and executing the Company’s annual compliance plan.
  • Draft, review, and update corporate compliance policies and procedures.
  • Maintain policy governance and annual review processes.
  • Analyze trends and recurring compliance issues.
  • Track remediation efforts through completion.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate insurance carrier agreements, agency agreements, producer agreements, wholesaler agreements, MGA agreements, and other insurance distribution contracts.
  • Review and negotiate Business Associate Agreements (BAAs) and related privacy agreements.
  • Provide legal analysis of federal and state insurance laws, regulations, bulletins, and regulatory guidance.
  • Research complex regulatory issues affecting retail insurance brokerage operations, including:
    • Insurance producer licensing
    • Surplus lines regulation
    • Medicare regulations
    • Employee benefits compliance
    • Producer compensation
    • Consumer protection laws
    • Privacy and cybersecurity regulations
    • Department of Insurance guidance
  • Advise internal stakeholders on regulatory obligations and compliance risks.

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 2–5 years of legal experience in insurance, regulatory compliance, healthcare, employee benefits, privacy, or commercial contracts.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of assignments, build processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and independently drive projects from concept through implementation.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and sound legal judgment.
