Risk Manager – Construction & Development

The organization is seeking a Risk Manager – Construction & Development to support a growing portfolio of ground-up developments, redevelopment projects, and major capital improvements. This position will partner closely with Development, Construction, Legal, Procurement, and Operations leadership to identify, assess, and mitigate construction-related risks throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage construction risk exposures for large-scale commercial real estate development projects.
- Oversee construction-related insurance programs including Builder’s Risk, OCIP/CCIP, Professional Liability, Contractor’s Pollution Liability, and related coverages.
- Review and negotiate construction contracts, insurance requirements, indemnification provisions, and risk transfer language.
- Lead construction-related claims management and coordinate with carriers, brokers, adjusters, and legal counsel.
- Support contractor insurance compliance and vendor risk management initiatives.
- Partner with project teams on safety, loss prevention, and construction risk best practices.
- Prepare executive-level reporting on risk exposures, claims activity, and insurance program performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in construction risk management, insurance, or commercial real estate risk.
- Strong knowledge of Builder’s Risk, construction liability, professional liability, and contract risk transfer.
- Experience supporting large-scale commercial real estate development and construction projects.
- Familiarity with RMIS platforms and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
